MacDowell Colony, Peterborough, New Hampshire. Fall deadline: April 15, 2010

The MacDowell Colony, founded in 1906 and located in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire, provides time, space, and an inspiring environment to artists of exceptional talent.

A MacDowell Fellowship, or residency, consists of exclusive use of a studio, accommodations, and three prepared meals a day for up to 8 weeks.

The Colony accepts applications from artists working in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theatre, and visual arts. The sole criterion for acceptance is artistic excellence.

Application Deadline (receipt at the Colony in Peterborough, not postmark): April 15, 2010 for Fall residencies that run between October 1, 2010 and January 31, 2011.

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council: Workspace Studio Residency Deadline: March 25, 2010

Workspace is a 9-month studio residency program run by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council in New York.

Addressed to: emerging visual artists and writers focused on the creative process. Collaborative pairs, of no more than two, may apply.

Benefits: Residents receive free studio space in Lower Manhattan for 9 months, a modest one-time stipend (depending on funding), access to a community of peers, meetings and studio visits with arts and literary professionals, and exposure to new audiences through open studios and other public programs.

Deadline: March 25, 2010 (in-office, not postmark deadline)
