The Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, located in Woodstock, New York, offers month-long Artist in Residence (AIR) opportunities for visual artists, composers, playwrights/screenwriters, and writers of fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Longer residencies are available for ceramic artists.

Itziar Barrio will present a selection of recent work as well as work-in-progress. The repetition and extension of icons into Barrio's murals, animations, and drawings exemplifies the relationship that society has with everyday objects as recurring icons, whether those be practical objects embedded in our lives or abstract advertisement media creations. In this way, the artist brings up questions that are not overtly social or political, but that deal with the tendency of the human mind to create iconic and associative characters out of its surroundings and the effects of those associations on society.

Itziar Barrio was born in 1976 in Bilbao, Spain and currently lives and works in New York City. She combines a wide range of media spanning the gamut of drawing, photography, video, animation and installation. Barrio has been featured in solo shows internationally has been the recipient of grants and awards from major foundations and institutions including First Prize Ertibil, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Spanish Ministry of Culture, Consulate General of Spain in New York, Basque Government Ministry of Culture and Bizkaia Executive Council, Gure Artea Biennial Prize and the Iberoamerican Videocreation Prize, MUSAC (Leon). Residency Experience: Ragdale artists come from all over the country and around the world to Lake Forest, Illinois to create, write, experiment, research, plan, compose, rejuvenate, brainstorm, and work. Eligibility: Visual artists working in all forms of media are eligible. The program is designed for artists with a developed studio practice and career experience. Certain types of work cannot be accommodated for practical reasons, including large or heavy sculptures, some types of metal work, and work involving high noise levels or fire risk. Applications are judged solely on the quality of the work as presented. Fellows at the VCCA work in their own private studio, located in a renovated Normandy style barn built in the 1930s. Eleven studios are dedicated for writers, nine for visual artists. The visual artists' studios are 500 to 700 square feet in size, with skylights, large northeast windows, and sinks, all on the ground floor. One studio is equipped with a Dickerson combination press. A sculptors' studio has 220-volt power and a loading dock. A darkroom with two enlargers for printing 35mm and 4x5 negatives is available for photographers.

Artists who apply for residency should be familiar with at least one of the media offered at Kala. Considerations for acceptance are conceptual creativity and technical knowledge. Kala encourages experimental uses of both traditional and new technologies, and their admixture.

Resident artists receive 24-hour access to the printmaking workshop and/or electronic media center; individual storage space; exhibition opportunities such as the Artists' Annual show in the Kala Gallery and possible exposure on Kala's website and in other exhibitions at Kala or outside exhibition spaces; and participation in a vital, international artistic community. Byrdcliffe Master

The Pollock-Krasner Foundation has generously funded for a fourth year, a program for the Byrdcliffe Artists In Residence Program (AIR). All visual artists applying to the AIR program are eligible. Five will be selected by the jury for a 4-week FREE residency, plus a $1,100 stipend. This year the Byrdcliffe Master is Joan Snyder. Edenfred Residency Program, Deadline: January 1, 2010

Established in 2004 and located in a 1916 Georgian-style mansion in the Highlands neighborhood of Madison, Wisconsin, Edenfred is a place providing artists uninterrupted time to work in a peaceful setting of 1.5 acres of part-like woodland with walking trails, minutes from downtown, Lake Mendota and the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

Edenfred is dedicated to the development of the arts and culture and is especially interested in encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue. Resident fellows are required to have some direct interaction with the Madison community during their stay. The house is particularly well-suited to collaborative team residencies. Edenfred has a visual art studio and four guest suites but no specialized work spaces for different disciplines (no dance studio, no private music room, etc.).

Creative artists in all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Eyebeam is seeking applications from artists, hackers, engineers, designers, curators, and creative technologists to participate in its 2010 Fellowship program. Fellows at Eyebeam spearhead new research and develop new work. The ideal Fellow has experience working with and making innovative technological art or creative technology projects, and has a passion for collaborative development. Fellows will bring this experience and working approach to Eyebeam where they will have the opportunity to engage in their own independent projects, projects initiated by other Residents or Fellows, and projects conceived collaboratively with Eyebeam’s staff, Fellows, Residents, and research partners.

Up to four Fellows will be selected for the upcoming 11-month cycle, which will run from March 1, 2010 to January 31, 2011. Selected Fellows will be expected to spend at least four days per week working at Eyebeam. Fellows are expected to contribute to the Eyebeam community as mentors to residents and youth working at Eyebeam and as principals in research initiatives, programs, and education. Leadership in Research Groups is compulsory and is explained further, below.

Fellows receive a $30,000 stipend during their stay in NYC with Eyebeam. It is possible for Fellows to take on additional external teaching or consulting work, as long as s/he can fulfill commitments to Eyebeam at the same time.

International applicants are welcome to apply, although we do not have the resources to provide travel or accommodation. We are happy to work with selected applicants, where required, to help them to secure funds to cover these expenses. ArtsCONNECT supports performing arts tours of American and international artists through presenter consortia and partnerships in the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S.

Presenters eligible for support must be located in the Foundation's service area: Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Presenter consortia must include at least three presenting organizations from at least two mid-Atlantic states collaborating to bring the same artist to their communities.

Hangar is a centre for arts production and research, set up by the Association of Visual Arts of Catalonia (AAVC) in 1997. It provides support facilities for artists and designers and offers services adapted to production needs associated with the arts world.

The centre is housed in refurbished industrial premises in the Poblenou neighbourhood of Barcelona. Its 1,800 m2 includes 15 individual studios, Medialab, 2 film sets, an equipment rental service,technicians and consultancy and advice on production. In addition to its international exchange programme, Hangar also offers production grants and a series of training workshops for artists.

The centre is subsidised mainly by the Catalan Government and Barcelona City Council, and is managed by the AAVC Foundation. Focused on production and research, its management model and philosophy make Hangar a unique venue in Spain in general and Barcelona in particular.
