Vermont Studio Center, International Residency Fellowships Deadline: October 1, 2009

The Vermont Studio Center is the largest international residency program in the U.S. and is open year-round to artists and writers from all around the world.
Setting: historic 30-building campus along the Gihon River in Johnson, Vermont, a village in the heart of the northern Green Mountains.
The center hosts residents per month, each of whom receives an individual studio, private room and meals. In addition, their program includes a roster of Visiting Artists and Writers (2 painters, 2 sculptors and 2 writers per month) who offer slide talks/readings and individual studio visits/conferences.

Duration: 2 - 12 weeks

Deadline: October 1, 2009 (recommended deadline for summer 2010 fellowships). Next alternative deadlines: February 15 and June 15, 2010. Best to apply at least 6 mos. prior to preferred start date, though VSC will consider applications received as late as 8 weeks in advance of the month(s) for which one is applying.


Number of awards for international artists (up to 18):

- Vermont Studio Center Fellowships (up to 16), based on merit
- Golden Award (1), for painters, based on merit

- The Rona Jaffe Foundation/Vermont Studio Center Fellowship (1), for an emerging woman writer who will be a first-time resident at VSC.
